So, is it safe for electric cars to drive through puddles? The answer is safe, as long as the water does not rise to cover the wheels of the car. 

Electric cars have been designed with special protection against water, including sealed batteries and strong isolated electrical systems as well as IP (Ingress Protection) certification that protects them from water and dust. The higher the IP, the greater the water protection.

If affected by flooding or passing through standing water within safe limits (usually no more than half the height of the wheels), the electric car can still operate normally without the risk of short circuiting or breaking down. However, if submerged in water that is too deep for an extended period of time, the risk of damage to other components, such as electric motors and electronic systems, may increase. 

Car owners are still advised to avoid driving through floods. If forced to drive through puddles or even floods, make sure to drive slowly and carefully. Reduce speed and avoid sudden braking. 

Here are tips for driving an electric car during heavy rain:

1. Driving in heavy rain conditions makes it difficult to see the road clearly and this can endanger the driver. It is recommended that customers replace the wiper rubber when there are signs of scratches on the windshield so that the wipers can work optimally and the long distance while driving appears clearer.

2. Drivers need to make sure the car tires have enough tread. If the customer's car tires do not have enough tread, stopping quickly on a wet road may cause slippage and possibly cause an accident. 

3. Pay attention to the condition of the electric car battery regularly. Be sure to always check the battery power of the electric car before driving, especially during heavy rain, to ensure the vehicle is ready to use and avoid the possibility of running out of power in the middle of the trip. 

4. Make sure customers always carry other emergency equipment, such as raincoats and umbrellas in case of an emergency and have to leave the car during heavy rain. Personal medication and a first aid kit should also be prepared for first aid in the event of an accident.

Jika terkena dampak banjir atau melewati genangan air dalam batas aman (biasanya tidak lebih dari setengah tinggi roda), mobil listrik tetap dapat beroperasi dengan normal tanpa risiko korsleting atau mogok. Namun, jika terendam dalam air yang terlalu dalam untuk waktu yang lama, risiko kerusakan pada komponen lain, seperti motor listrik dan sistem elektronik, bisa meningkat. 

Pemilik mobil tetap disarankan untuk menghindari menerjang banjir. Jika terpaksa harus melewati genangan air atau bahkan banjir, pastikan untuk mengemudikannya secara perlahan dan hati-hati. Kurangi kecepatan dan hindari pengereman mendadak. 

Berikut tips berkendaraa dengan mobil listrik saat hujan deras:

1. Mengemudi pada kondisi hujan deras membuat pandangan biasanya juga sulit melihat jalanan dengan jelas dan hal ini dapat membahayakan pengemudi. Sebaiknya pelanggan mengganti karet wiper apabila sudah terlihat tanda-tanda goresan pada kaca depan mobil supaya wiper dapat bekerja secara maksimal dan jarak panjang saat mengemudi tampak lebih jelas.

2. Pengemudi perlu memastikan ban mobil memiliki tapak yang cukup. Jika ban mobil pelanggan tidak memiliki tapak yang cukup, menghentikan secara cepat pada jalan yang basah dapat menyebabkan slip dan mungkin menyebabkan kecelakaan. 

3. Perhatikan kondisi baterai mobil listrik secara berkala. Pastikan untuk selalu mengecek daya baterai mobil listrik sebelum berkendara, terutama saat hujan deras, untuk memastikan kendaraan siap digunakan dan menghindari kemungkinan kehabisan daya di tengah perjalanan. 

4. Pastikan pelanggan selalu membawa perlengkapan darurat lainnya, seperti jas hujan dan payung untuk berjaga-jaga jika kondisi darurat dan harus keluar mobil saat hujan deras. Obat-obatan pribadi dan kotak P3K juga perlu disiapkan untuk pertolongan pertama jika terjadi kecelakaan.
